#576 In Search of the Messiah

We each face our place in life. We each ignore our place in life. We do either in accordance to our curiosity/courage/interests. We may embrace religion. We may embrace spiritualism. We may embrace hedonism. We may embrace power. We may embrace a variety of reasons to help us understand our existence. We may not do any of these things when we are in a life that is devoid of caring human contact.

There are those folks who have accepted the concept of a Messiah. Someone who will bring them the peace and harmony they seek. The concept has been accepted by multitudes of people and religions for a millennium or so. These folks are convinced that their Savior will come from outside of them. Perhaps they are looking in the wrong direction.

My own spiritual adventure has passed through organized religion, the study of philosophy and other readings. The idea that we are all connected at a level that is difficult to see, touch, smell, hear or taste is one that is foreign to lots of people. Just like organized religions, we might have to take this universal connection on faith.

There are those of us who are convinced that we are all connected. Not only are we connected to each other, but to the universe as well. The primary unifying connection is the energy we can call love. Here love means the concept of agape. By accepting and living this concept our lives become richer and more rewarding.

This brings me to the comment made above, perhaps we are looking in the wrong direction. Perhaps we need to look within. It is possible to find the loving energy within and share it with the world. If there is any truth to the idea that what we give is what we get, that might be an answer to the condition of those around us. If we receive pain, what are we sending out to the world? If we receive joy, what are we sending out to the world? If we choose to live our lives in certain ways, then we should not be too surprised about our personal life condition. Years ago, reading a book by Bandler and Grinder who’s title escapes me at the moment, this statement was made, “If you don’t like what is happening to you, do something different until you do like what is happening to you.” That statement has been one of the guiding forces in my life.

So, if you are seeking a Messiah to rescue you from a life that is less than you prefer, look within. What choices are you making that bring you those results? What can you do differently? What is to be gained by the change? How much courage does it take to make the change? Are you worth it? Only you can answer these questions. You will make the choice that is correct for you. You are the only one who can.

Hmmm, you have the same philosophy in life that I have. After many years of searching, that is. I know I have arrived at a place in my life where I am very content with where and who I am. It's a great place to be and only took me 50 or so years to get here.

I sometimes wonder if the "dark matter" that astronomers figure binds the universes together is really the divine force. I think there is an innate desire within each of us that there be some sort of plan to life, some ultimate reason for being.

So you started on it! Well done! !!
Yes, you are definitely so right, Jack, it is the spirit within that guides us and that knows!

But I don't think it's got to be "just" faith taht we need to settle for; I believe "knowing" ist above that.

You know what is right or wrong, you know the truth, you don't have to settle for believing, when you in fact do KNOW.

Phosgene Kid:
interesting trhought. But consider this: dark matter would be still a part of the physical universe, wouldn't it? If so, this doesn't apply. I believe Jack is talking about metaphysics, aren't you, Jack?

Metaphysics are above the physical universe. That's like water and oil; they just don't mix (but one surely polutes the other!)

But comming back to what is superior to the other: Didn't even Crockodile Dundee say: "Mind over matter"?! I mean if it's already that broadly spread, that it's already in an ordinary action/commedy movie then we should also accept it on an intellectual basis that both the mind and the spirit are above matter, enery, space and time.

Mmmm..do you REALLY want me to comment? You know me Jack...I doubt that HWMBO put 'out' pain and that is why he is in pain ( for 19 years)...not fair, not fair at all.
