#490 The Equestrian

eThese are photos of one huge bronze statue on display at the entrance to the El Paso International Airport. The link will tell you a story about the statue, its origin and the subsequent downgrading of its importance.

We stopped by to see this the Sunday I was in El Paso. Friends of my brother took us to an art exhibit and then to see the Big Horse. It was a beautiful day. The horse and rider are HUGE as you can see. There is some scandal around it because the artist is to complete a number of other statues and due to his age, he might not be able to complete the project.

hmmmmm.... it takes a big rider to handle such a big horse...

so, what's the scandal? the size? or the fact that the artist has possibly spread himself too thin and may not be able to complete?

worst case, they could prolly jes' build a horsey-go-round, well... around it.

;)

There used to be a code as to the posture of the horse. I think two front hooves in the air meant the rider died in battle...
