#374 Thank you James Taylor

Maryann went off to do errands and I went for my 30 minute session on the treadmill. As usual I plugged my iPod into my ears and selected James Taylor's Greatest Hits album. No problem. My walking speed goes from 2 MPH to 4 MPH back to 2 MPH. There is a long time at 3 MPH and the incline changes along the way. The scenery doesn't change, only the music and my thoughts.

So there I was moving right along trying to stay in step with the music. The tempo changes and it isn't always right for the speed, but I do my best to keep in time. Things were going fine until he began singing You've Got a Friend. During that song a lump in the throat came along with
the tears. I don't know why. OK. Something to ponder. That was unexpected, but appreciated.

Next song to effect me was Shower the People You Love with Love. More sobs and tears. Now I could think of those folks whom I want to be the recipient of my love - Maryann, my three daughters, my grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends like Rod and Jackie. I even thouhgt about blogger friends like bird, bronxbt, bogs who is on blogging hiatus, darlene, fuzziechads, hale, infinitesimal, karen,
miss celania, peter, polly, serena joy, skunky, et al., they are folks who have added friendship to my life.

Then the song How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You came through the headphones. This was getting to be quite a tear-fest. My thought immediately jumped to Maryann. After 40+years, she is my rock and yet my soft place. Her sensibilities and sense of humor are priceless. I would be lost without her in my life. (That is part of the lyrics. It is playing now. The sax riff is fantastic.) Life with her is sweet indeed.

For some reason, yet unknown, Sweet Baby James brought on more deep emotions. I must have some deeper meaning than comes to mind immediately.

It was great walk. I got to listen to some great music. My muscles, brain, heart and soul all got a workout. And James Taylor gave me more information to answer the question posted on the 13th. Thank you for indulging me.

Thank you Jack for including me in such August company... and its only February.
I like James Taylor but don't find him "music to cry by" often.

Peter, you are welcome.

I am surprised from time to time to discover that music effects me that way.

Eric Clapton's My Father's Eyes and Merle Haggard's That's the Way Love Goes are two more that can bring tears.

I reckon I'll boast about that.

awwwww, Jack, how sweet. And thank you for mentioning me. I feel the same way about my blogging friends. Wouldn't it be a blast if we could all have a meetup!!

Amazing Grace always has me bawling my eyes out. Think if I was walking, I might listen to The Eagles.

Thanks, Karen.

Amazing Grace effects me much the same.

Bering Strait is another good group for walking.

Another classic song I love is Anne Murray's "Could I Have This Dance" ... not a crying song, a waltzing song!

James Taylor affects me the same way. The songs you mentioned plus Carolina In My Mind and Fire And Rain.

At the gym, I use a more raucous, adrenal music selection; but when I use the alternate of hiking Green Mountain (spring and summer), a more easy listening mix is my choice. The right song, the right memory, and a bit of eye moistening do come about. Usually only me and the Great Provider of All Things Natural up there, so I don't mind ;)
