#151 As Seen Through the Windshield #4

After arriving in Portland on Friday afternoon we spent a delightful almost 48 hours visiting our daughter and son –in-law. Late Saturday evening my oldest daughter, Adrianne, arrived to spend almost a week with Shannon. As you can see from these photos, the crochet work she brought with her was absolutely beautiful. I missed the opportunity to get a shot of her prize winning mobius scarf.

On Sunday morning we were scheduled to leave Portland to pick up our friends at the Seattle airport. While were packing up our phone rang. Maryann had a fun time finding it. She knew it was ours but it took her some time to get it out of her purse. It was our friends from New Mexico whom we were to pick up at the airport around 10:00 AM calling to tell us that they would be delayed. There was something about a flight attendant who failed to show up for the flight. Apparently United no longer flies friendly skies. This made them miss there connection in Denver. They were put onto an Air Alaska flight that got in around 1:20 PM. In the process one of their checked bags did not make through to Seattle. (Here it is Monday evening and the bag still has not been delivered. Hopefully it will arrive sometime this evening and Mike will have some fresh clothes to wear tomorrow.)[It is now Tuesday morning and Mike is still trying to find his luggage. He knows it is supposed to be somewhere in Vancouver.]

The trip North was uneventful, if you can call arriving at a friend’s home for lunch around 3 hours late. They had known the folks for a very long time. Mike and John worked together many years ago and they take a trip to Cabo San Lucas every December.

We learned that while in Cabo this past December they had a very severe wind storm which blew down quite a few (perhaps 100+ in the green strip behind there house). You can see by these two pictures what sort of damage was done to the forest, not to mention their home. Actually, their home was not as damaged as one might expect. They have done some replanting of the landscape. They do have a beautiful home. The lunch was great. The menu was baked ham, Swiss cheese, Cheddar cheese, a fruit plate and some very nice white wine—Chardonnay and a Pinot Gris.

The road North to Vancouver was uneventful and scenic in places. You can tell from these pictures the scenery was much the same as you have seen before. This time I did have help from Mike in taking them.

Around 10:30 PM we arrived at our time share in the Sheraton Vancouver hotel. We have rooms on the 28th floor.

This gives us a spectacular view of the city. There will be more spectacular photos in the offing. I don't have an easy access to the internet. Sorry about that.

Hmmm, that Mac of yours, it supposedly checks not only spelling as you write your post, but it's grammar too, right?

United KNOW longer flies...
