#714 Glacier National Park #1

Day eight, May 30th. We stayed at Lake McDonald Lodge Cabins in Glacier National Park. When the lodge was originally built the main entrance faced Lake McDonald. The logs used in construction were brought across the frozen lake in winter.

The photo of the entrance to the park was taken on this day.  The cabin is #7 where we had rooms. Would you believe that there are four rooms in this cabin?  Then you can see the former front of the lodge.

The lobby of the lodge is quite rustic. Apparently, taxidermy is quite popular in this area. There are a number of animals, birds and wildlife heads on display. The lanterns have a Native American motif.

The lodge is located on beautiful Lake McDonald. They have boat tours on the lake three or four times a day. It was colder than we were expecting so we passed on the boat trip.

We did manage to get a few wildlife photos the first day. We were fortunate to see the mother mountain goat and her kid.  Thank goodness for the "long" lens.  There is also a goat seen high on a hill. Honest, that what that little white blob is. To cap it off I was sufficiently alert to capture the South end of a North bound deer.

That is all for this day. The 31st is a full day and includes the Red Bus tour.

Yes our boat could handle this lake and we'd go even if it was cold. Just saying.

What a fantastic trip.

Have a terrific day. :)

Jack... you had the mother of all trips! That is all I have to say. No, I have something else... I am green with envy!!

Awesome pics! Awesome places you have stayed at! I feel rested just looking at them.

I loved the shade of orange walls with the wood. So warm and inviting. Ahhh...
