As you have probably figured out by now Yellowstone is the park that is known for its geysers and hot springs. Our first stop was Norris Geyser Basin. These are only 18 of the photos. Their beauty is even greater when you are in their presence.
The next stop was at Steamboat Geyser.
After Steamboat Geyser we headed for Sheepeater Cliff. We had lunch here and then moved on toward Fort Yellowstone.
On the road North we passed through areas with unique geological formations. I couldn't resist.
At noon we near Fort Yellowstone. As we approached Mammoth Hot Springs Lodge we passed the Mammoth Hot Springs off to our left. It is another fantastic site. South Yellowstone is known for geysers, while North Yellowstone is more noted for hot springs. Here are some photos of Mammoth Hot Springs.
After passing Mammoth Hot Springs Terrace we arrived at Fort Yellowstone. We registered for our cabin and then took off for a bit more sight seeing.

The last photo of an elk was taken right outside of the Mammoth Springs Lodge. We didn't have to go far to find one. Wait 'til you see the elk from tomorrow's journey.

Such beautiful country. I love Yellowstone National Park. I remember sitting for what seemed forever to see Old Faithful. Very impressive and well worth the wait.
