#596 The Trip West...

Is about to begin. We got the call yesterday afternoon with the request to come earlier than we had planned. There must be something about a c-section that takes a little more energy/time to come to full recovery. That, plus the normal care of a newborn can be extremely tiring.

Our bags are packed. The van is packed. We only have a few incidental things to pack and load. The maps are prepared. The reservations have been made. At 0-dark:30 early Friday morning we will be on our way to welcome Eli into the family.

The first day is the longest, from Lansing, KS, to Santa Rosa, NM. It only takes 11+ hours. Thirty years ago, it was a piece of cake. We both drive so it should be OK.

Day two takes us to Scottsdale, AZ. It will take a little over 8 hours. We have some things to bring to my daughter, things she had stored with us. It will be good to see her, too.

Sunday we will arrive in Venice, CA and get the opportunity to see Eli. His mother told us we will fall in love with him the first second we see him. How does she know that? snicker. We can hardly wait. We love him already.

With a little luck I will be posting more photos as seen "through the windshield".

Now, lets see what else needs to be done prior to departing?

Grand-babies are the best ever. I've got two and they are both delightful. One is graduating from high school this year.

Have a safe trip. :)

Have a safe trip. Don't know what, I'm very excited about this baby too :) I think every newborn is truly amazing and that itself is worth celebrating.

Can't wait to hear more.

Yeah, a c-section is definitely a longer recovery! I bet you can't wait to see that grandbaby and give him a kiss.
