#524 History repeats itself

The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.

From 55BC to now 2008, nothing has changed much, has it? :()

As long as we humans continue to be driven by greed, things sure won't change.

Sigh!

Hi Jack ~~ It is hard to believe that Cicero said in 55BC something that is so relavant to a lot of our countries and
politicians. I find it hard to believe there was public assistance way back then. Thank you for your comments, bothe the recipe and Pet Owners thins were quite good. Thanks for your suggestion, I get some rest. Darn good idea. Good report from Doctor today helped. Take care, Regards, Merle.

There's a civilization that fell hard. We're next if we don't start hitting our representatives upside the head.

Cicero would be annoyed that we don't listen (or learn from history) any better than his audience did.
