I lifted this from Polly's site after reading Pete's latest posting about a potential commutation of Michael Vick's possible sentence. If it weren't possible it would be funnier than hell. Look at the following comments and apply them to our country. This information was being applied to events in Australia. It can also be applied to the good old USA because the current Australian government is hell bent on outdoing Americans to curry favor with us.

3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause.
4. The supremacy of the military and police.
5. Rampant sexism.
6. A controlled mass media.
7. Obsession with national security.
8. Religion and ruling elite tied together.
9. Power of corporations protected.
10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated.
11. Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts.
12. Obsession with crime and punishment.
13. Rampant cronyism and corruption.
14. Fraudulent elections, referenda, plebiscites or public opinion polls

Can't imagine Vick being commuted. Too many animal lovers out there plus the powerful Humane Society after him.
