Back to Vancouver. While there, we decided to visit the Gastown district. It is a part of town that had fallen on hard times and now it is on its way back to prosperity.
Here is a statue of the individual who is purported to have given this area its name.
As for the area’s prosperity, these photos will give you some idea of how things are going.
We had lunch at the Water Street Café. It was recommended by the Concierge.
For lunch Maryann and I shared a Portobello Panini. A glass of the local Granville Pale Ale was a perfect match. For dessert what could be better than a flourless chocolate cake with a black cherry compote?
More to follow. I still have to get us to Portland and Venice Beach and there is at least one more posting from Vancouver. We are in Venice Beach at this moment.

Hi Jack, I see that Gastown has its own flat iron building, I think I'd be forgetting that Gassy Jack story if I lived there nor erecting a statue to him.
