It began raining last night around midnight and rained off and on until early this afternoon. During that time we received almost 2.5 Inches (6 cm) in the rain gauge in our patio garden. That is a lot of rain in a short period. There are flash flood warnings out for the surrounding area.
Maryann has been out of town this week. She had to take care of some business concerning Margaret's estate. Her flight came in late last night and we didn't get to bed until around midnight.
The day our friends left to return to their home in France our washing machine said, "I QUIT!!!" We ordered a new matching set. It was hoped that it would arrive while Maryann was out of town. Yours truly would have gotten to learn the mastery of the new set. Wouldn't you know it? It won't be available until mid-May. Since we are planning an extended trip to the West coast to see daughters and friends, we will have to wait until our return for that experience.
In the meantime, what is one to do with about 2.5 weeks of laundry? Thank goodness for really good friends and neighbors. George let us come over and use his equipment. We were ferrying laundry across the corner in the van during the rain. Fortunately the rain wasn't that hard. I did hook up our dryer and use it to finish up. Of course that leads to a lot of ironing. We have gotten about half of that completed. Some things will take longer to hang dry so there will be more ironing later this evening, or tomorrow.
We will begin our packing tomorrow. The van will be full of stuff to take along. We have asked our girls if the wanted anything from the basement boutique. This time they took us up on the offer.
I hope to be able to post some photos of our trip. With a little bit of luck and a good Internet connection you will get to see some while we are on the road.
It is getting late in the afternoon and it is nearing aperitif time. So, ta ta for now.

ooooh, what did julianne want?! :)
can hardly wait to see you and mom!!!
Are you anywhere near Greensburg, Jack? I was kinda worried about you when I saw the horrific photos of a town completely destroyed.
On a happier note, have fun on your vacation!
Hi Jack, I was trying to think through my blogroll for anyone from Kansas who may have been affected by the tornado, trust that it wasn't near you, so sad for the people of Greensburg.
Shannon, you will know soon enough about your sister's selection. giggle.
Karen and Peter, thanks for our concern. We are almost at opposite ends of the state, Greensburg and Lansing.
