Here it is, Saturday night, and it seems as though I have been on autopilot for a very long time.
Today was the day of Margaret's funeral. It was absolutely perfect. There was sadness, joy and, yes, even laughter. Maryann and I marveled at the fact that most of the interactions with the others were liberally peppered with laughter. We realized it was necessary to soften the grief. We were appreciative of the concern of others who were willing to participate.
Pastor Karen did a marvelous job. She used the bible passages that Margaret's granddaughter suggested. Karen also used the information we had all worked on as previously reported. I even go an opportunity to stand before the group and shed tears and laugh and pay honor to a woman whom I grew to love dearly.
While we will miss her, we know she is doing what she needs to be doing, and that is preparing for another mission.
She has helped me to put words to the concept of...
Serve others, care about those you serve and share the love in your heart.
I am truly proud to have been her son-in-law, and I was proud to have tearfully made that announcement to those assembled.
So, dear friends, thank you for allowing me to share this all with you. I will have some more things to say on a later posting.

It was a lovely service. While I will miss her dearly, I am happy she's no longer in the state she was at the end.
Autopilot is something I know about for sure! I'm looking forward to spending time in CA before heading back to my brood at home.
Just. too. tired. to. think.
Your words helped everyone, thanks!
Sounded like a very good service Jack, love to Maryann.
As her son-in-law she shone through you to us.
Love to all
I just participated in one of those last weekend. My daughter made everyone laugh as she spoke of great grandma's quirky side.
laughter~ such a necessary component at times like that. So glad you were able to have some too.
Thank you for sharing J :)
