#57 The Passing of a President

I am watching ABC News as it covers the funeral of the late-President Gerald Ford. It makes me proud to observe the attention to duty of the military honor guards and pall bearers as they perform their duties. They are professional and make me glad to have served.

We don't always have to agree with the individual who holds that office. We do have to remember the office and pay the appropriate honors to the office through the holder of the office.

I was also reminded of the death of another country's leader, or former leader this week. What a difference democracy makes. It is too bad that there are those who do not understand the value of such a form of government.

I am proud of our Bill of Rights and our Constitution. I am still bound by my oath to support and defend the concepts set out in that document.

President Ford, thank you for your service.
