#728 Article IV - The States

Section 1 - Each State to Honor all others
Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.
Section 2 - State citizens, Extradition
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on demand of the executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.
Section 3 - New States
New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.
The Congress shall have Power to dispose of and make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States; and nothing in this Constitution shall be so construed as to Prejudice any Claims of the United States, or of any particular State.

Section 4 - Republican government
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

The founders wanted to insure that citizens could form their own states and have jurisdiction over the citizens of that state. An interesting note pertains to the Republican form of government.  It has nothing to do with party names, but, rather, that there shall be no monarch. The supreme power is to be vested in the citizenry who will have the power to elect their own representatives to the US Congress as well as their State Congresses.

Somehow the persons we elect seem to be more for themselves than their constituents. Why don't those other fools vote out their scalawag. If they did we would all be better off, don't you think? snerx.

I too think our state representatives have forgotten who they work for. I'm going to try very hard to vote them out. Alas I live in a welfare state (California) and it's just not that easy.

Have a terrific day. :)

Jack, are you going to point out the part that says a corporation is the same thing as an individual with respect to the Second Amendment?

Sandee - The freedom to vote is part of what makes this country great and vulnerable.

Pete - You were correct in identifying the new chapeau as a Stetson. Maryann made me buy it.

The idea of corporations as individual persons is somewhat repugnant to me. I guess I will have to make a comment about that. thanks for the tip.

I was certainly being sarcastic about corporations; you won't find it in the Constitution. Consternatives need look no further when they speak of "activist judges" than the ones who made that ruling a whil back.
