#570 UPDATE Random Thoughts About Beauty

I got to thinking more about the topic since this was posted. This afternoon while polishing furniture Joe Cocker's song came to mind. Check it out below.

A week ago I read a blog posted by bird. It was entitled Don't Tell Me. It is one of those pieces that makes a lot of sense when you first read it, and sits in the back of your mind working on you.

bird has a way with words. She is clear, concise, poetic, loving, strong, gentle, precise. Well, you read what she has to say and draw your own conclusions. One small caution, on occasion her writings are erotic.

The gist of this piece is the use of the word beauty. I had never thought of the term in the manner she describes. During the night, the thought came to me about beauty being in the eye of the beholder. There are people, things, occasions that are beautiful to me and others wonder when my train left the tracks. Nonetheless, the
person/object/occasion bring joy, tears, admiration to my life. I am a better person for having perceived it/he/she, etc.

Beauty is a flaw and a blessing of being human. Beauty is a word that can and has been misused/abused/wasted by all of us. We probably should carefully weigh the times we use the word. If it is directed at a person, we can only wonder how it will be received. bird's suggestions about its use are something worth considering. Or not. In the meantime, should you want to add beauty to your life, you might consider this....

Serve with integrity, care about those you serve and share the love in your heart/soul.

Thank you.

Dear Jack ~~ Well, that was different. I may post one by a dog and a cat tomorrow. Glad you enjoyed the jokes and also Vicki's piece she sent me. Talking about chocolate, they say dark is best for you. It would be as I prefer milk chocolate especially caramel. Don't have much at all. A couple of the fires started up again with one home lost and a fire truck. Two fire men were hurt, but not seriously.Take care, Regards, Merle.

it's sometimes nice to have little birds remind us of such things. ;)

Thank you for sharing her... and your thoughts on the subject of beauty too.

Both are beautiful!

Hi Jack,
thought I'd also comment on this one, since you gave your very valued and interesting comments on my blogs.
Anyway: I very much do think, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you can see it and appreciate aesthetics, you are indeed pretty well off, I'd say!
I think it's avery good sign and witnesses of a person being mantally well, if the person both creates and appreciates beauty!
Funny enough, while I write this there is only one thing taht comes to my mind: while you guys probably think of a beautiful woman, always think of cloud formations, a sunset or a barren landscape. and the thing that comes to my mind is of course Gillespie Magee's famous, classic poem. That really synonomous with beauty for me!
I even put it on one of my blogs not so long ago:

P.s.: Ever thought of beauty or even "degrees of uglyness" as beeing wavelengths in the physical universe?
