#183 It's Friday and......

the rain has been gently falling for the past two days. This is good. Perhaps it will take some of the pressure off of central Texas and Oklahoma.

The OB's met this morning as usual. We did have to watch our language when a father brought his two kids in for a cool drink. One of my colleagues got our attention with a "point of order". He reminded us to watch our language. With this admonition, the father saw the value in taking the children out of such a den of iniquity. There is nothing like using the proper technical terms to provide the appropriate emphasis. Perhaps there may be another war story in there somewhere.

On the way home I stopped at the school district office to visit with the Superintendent. During our conversation, he informed me that his son was now out of the Army. He had served two tours in Iraq and has been diagnosed with chronic post-traumatic stress disorder. Here is something I want to bring to the attention of the OB's to determine what, if anything, we can do to provide some service. One of the good things to come from this situation, my friend has lost a bit of weight from worrying about his son. That is not the best way to do it. Here's hoping the young man will benefit from the assistance that is coming his way.

thanks for the Cheney link, Jack...

I have heard that a lot of Iraq vets aren't getting adequate mental and physical healthcare... that's shameful... what will we say when we look back at these days and see what we failed to do?
