#108 Something I Read in the Paper...

today. According to an article in the Kansas City Star you can "protect and improve your memory..." by developing these seven habits:
  1. Have fewer than two alcoholic drinks a day. (This is doable. Be sure to use a larger wine glass.)
  2. Watch less than one hour of TV daily. (Which reality show should I watch? Perhaps the news.)
  3. Read novels. (Now here is a novel idea. Don't you just love obvious puns?)
  4. Do crosswords. (when the word you select is too long for the space, just write small.)
  5. Eat fish. (There are some great salmon recipes available.)
  6. Drink tea or coffee. (OK. One cup of tea with breakfast ought to fulfill that requirement.)
  7. Keep a journal. (Does posting to a blog count?)
How do you stack up to this regimen for staving off senior moments? I have no idea how I would fare if I didn't follow some of them. I must admit it has been a while since I read a novel. I just hope that these blogs will help fill that void: Our world, Bird's Blog, Weasel on a Stick, a walk in my shoes, bogsblog, Namaste!, It occurred to me, Parenthetically Speaking, verbicidal tendencies, Holties House, Rotating Chaos, Margaret's Memoirs, Another Day in Paradise, The Notorious F.A.T.T.Y., Lightning Bugs Butt.

While I don't always leave comments, I do read them. I wonder if commenting also counts toward keeping a journal.

Now what was I supposed to do with this posting? Let me think. Oh, I remember. Go fix a Black Russian, watch the news, read, finish the crossword puzzle, have a fish sandwich for lunch with a cup of tea on the side, and post this page in the journal.

Snerx.

I drink a lot of coffee but I don't think it's done anything for my memory. Still, all those tips sound doable to me. Even if my memory goes, I'll feel better.

Sure, I think blogging -- and commenting -- counts as journaling.

actually, you are right on with the salmon
it has a high amount of omega 3 fatty acids and those, not only improve memory but stave off depression and "lubricate the brain"

but fried fish sandwiches are much more yummy!

mmmm with the tarter sauce and the pickles and tomato and sesame seed bun?? LOVE THEM!
