The trip was long the first day and very cold both days. We managed to get a couple of jars of really good molasses. One for us and one for Shannon when we visit next year.
We stopped by to visit Margaret at the nursing home. She recognized us when she first saw us. At least she knew she knew us. She had the names wrong, but we knew she was with us. Her attention span is very short. We showed her some slides from our Hawaiian trip, but she lost interest in them which was OK. Under the circumstances, we were lucky she watched as long as she did.
We will spend a few more days visiting her. She continues to think that we should take her home so we can fix dinner. Or we can always go out to eat. Of course, she reminds us that she has no money. We usually dodge that offer. Today, we did something a little different. She decided to wheel off and we let her go. When she was out of sight we left. She probably won't remember we were there. We will see about that tomorrow.
Perhaps tomorrow will be warmer. I do mean the weather.

this is pretty interesting to me jack. my step-grandmother is fading away - similar situation. and my greatest fear is that i will fade in this fashion when my time comes. i hope that if my memory slips badly, i will retain some grace somehow, but i suppose i won't remember if i do from day to day.
i appreciate your willingness to share this slice of your life.
you are certainly, as always, serving well...
love to you and yours,
