i have visions of using this article in a lesson on logical arguments. if i had the time, i'd track down the original report - i wonder what evidence was provided to support these claims.
i am at a total loss as to why emery (?) added in his opinion on abortion when it wasn't, as he even said, part of the committee's discussion. this is such absurdity - and this guy gets PAID for doing this? seems he's lost a clear understanding of what it means to work for the people, function as a colleague in the legislature, and abide by legislative and parlimentary rules. but i have no doubt- the welfare state & progressive idealogy is somehow to blame for that.

bird, I tried to find more information about the report, but ran out of time and patience.
It seems obvious to me that Emery, who can hold office until 2010 as long as he gets re-elected, is a dyed-in-the-wool neo-conservative. I am sure he believes all of that drivel. How wrong-headed can one person be?
Peaches, please don't throw the baby out with the bath water. As you can see by the article in the KC Star, none of the Democrats on the committee would sign the report because of the inaccuracies and down right lies.
Yes, America is the land of the free. Everyone has the right to act and talk stupidly. Because we have freedom of the press, our acts can be reported for all to rally around.
We really aren't all that bad. There are just some of us who are worse than others.
The pendulum will swing back. It always does.
