#26 Protect Marriage?...

From what?

(The following comments have no scientific support. I am admittedly to damned lazy to do the research. These are just some ramblings from a guy who has been around long enough to rely on his own anecdotal observations. If you have any difficulty with that keep it to yourself, and deal with it.)

It is an interesting argument about protecting marriage by not allowing people of the same sex to marry. I am in a quandary as to what needs protection.

Is it possible for two people to love and care about each other so much that they want to spend their lives together?

Is it possible for two people to love and care about each other so much that they want to raise a family?

Is it possible for two people to love and care about each other so much that they want to benefit from the rights and privileges of citizenship in what is supposed to be one of the most free countries in the world?

Is it possible for two people to love and care about each other so much that they want to worship in the religion of their choice, or not?

Is it possible for two people to love and care about each other so much that they want to make love to one another?

Is it possible for two people to love and care about each other so much that they want to do all of the aforementioned activities without prejudicial treatment?

What is all of the fuss about?

Here is where I go out on a limb without the statistics to support the contention:

How many heterosexual relationships, i.e., marriages last?

How many same sex relationships, i.e., unions last?

My personal bias suggests that there may be more long lasting same sex unions than marriages. There is probably no way of knowing because same sex weddings are banned and no statistics can be gathered to support that.

I have asked in other places what is the single most disturbing thing about same sex relationships that is so reprehensible? The only idea that comes to my limited experience and mind is the sex act itself. If it weren't so tragic, it would be the most hilarious joke on the planet. There is a concept in psychology called projection. It just might apply here.

Is it possible that those who cry the loudest against same sex relationships are secretly wondering what it would be like to experience the relationship?

Is it possible that those who cry the loudest against same sex relationships are also among the folks who are discovered in such acts? Do the names Foley and Haggard mean anything? They are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

There is a view posed by some that there are those who engage in so-called deviant sexual acts and those who lie about it.

As for me, however two consenting adults choose to pleasure each other sexually is their business. Just don't target children, i.e., anyone under the age of 18.

There I've finally gotten off my chest, and I feel better for it. The answers to the questions posed have got to be supplied by you. As you think about them, remember to......

Serve others, care about those you serve and share the love in your heart.

BTW, folks, what would you say if I suggested that we choose the life we are to live prior to birth?
