Congratulations. You found the new site. I got tired of the black background. It would have been too difficult and tedious to go back through and change all of the print colors. So, I opted to go the beta route. Hale, Peter, and Margaret were having too much fun with theirs for me to ignore it.
I had to try it. I am not sure how to use many of these features yet. I don't even know what all of the features are, but I am sure there a number of folks out there who will be glad to look over my shoulder. I will appreciate the advice.
Until the inspiration bug bites.....

you went beta? :) i figured it wouldn't be long. chat soon!
i clicked on your old site and saw that i had missed quite a few posts, but should follow the link to here...
i am curious as to what the hub-bub is about beta. different features? do i need to investigate this too? heavens!
i enjoyed the quotes post from the old site.
what is that thing at the end of the post
subscribe to posts atom?????
yesh, i agree with the ever-wunderful-and-fwappy bird...
why should we consider changing?
are there unforeseen and magical benefits? ('cuz i may be an idiot, but aside from template and color, there still seems to be the same restrictions)
do share, do tell.. do do do do!
i'll mark 'em both for now, and i look forward to more of that wisdom of yours in the future.

have all the same questions as everyone above me. seen comments on others that have changed over and they don't like the idea that you can't go back if you don't like it. your idea of creating a new blog and leaving the old up is perfect, jack!
have contemplated changing 'the other side of me' over to beta since it's just my *playful* blog.
Well folks, I'll do my best to answer the questions.
One feature I like is the template feature. There are a few more bells and whistles here that make it easier to manage the side bar. The one part I had some concern about was the transfer of the links to other posts. I used to be able to copy and paste from one template to another. So far I have not found out how to do that with beta. I don't think I can.
I did have to copy and paste all of them. I did learn that it is rather easy to do, just time consuming. It is much easier to arrange the links. Just a mouse click will do it.
There are two primary reasons I switched to beta.
1. I wanted to change the template and not have to go back and redo all of the letter/word colors in the postings.
2. I understand that blogspot will change to the beta model for future blogs and I wanted to see for myself.
So whether it was worth it or not, I don't know yet. Keep tuned. It may just be a source of future postings.
Now, back to discovering how to add some more bells and whistles, e.g., calendar, counter, etc.
Have a play with text size and colors too Jack, you can change the look of your site quite dramatically there if you choose to.
BTW Atom is just the feed sourse that Beta uses, it's no biggie and won't blow up on you like some atoms of the past.
Also BTW by not allowing anonymous comments you have barred anyone without a blog site from commenting...
I'm just sayin'.
Just noticed you have a map for visitors so wanted Australia to be included and wanted to be the first so there!
Shall watch how this site pans out. Keep us up to date in how you find it won't you?
Also Jack, and in response to the other commenters - there will come a day when EVERYONE will be changed over to Beta whether they want to or not. Then they'll just turn a switch and poof!
...It's better to change on your own so you can pick the template you want.
